Cambs & Hunts Past Lady Captain’s Golf Society

President: Fiona Whitney

May Burn, our match captain, has organised this year’s inter county events. The Committee would like to thank all those who have signed up to play.  However Covid guidelines are recommending continuance of social distancing for the first part of the year and all golf clubs are still unable to open fully. Therefore the Committee have decided to postpone all matches in April and May.
The County
dates are published and it may be impossible to reschedule the matches.

We trust that next year will be better and we can go ahead with our fixtures.
Thank you all for your support.

LesleyClark Acting Secretary to the Committee

 ABOUT THE SOCIETY

The Cambs & Hunts Past Lady Captains’ Golf Society was started in 1973. The leading lights in the establishment of the Society were Brenda Wood and Muriel Stanley, both of Gog Magog GC, along with a small number of other enlightened lady captains. We celebrated our 40th anniversary in 2013 with a special event hosted by Menzies Cambridge Hotel and Golf Club. Over 130 past lady captains, including some of our very early members, took part in this event.  We had the great pleasure of being entertained by Mickey Walker, OBE who was our after dinner speaker.

Since then the Society has gone from strength to strength and we have in the region of 600 members, many of who are still playing golf.

Our annual fixture list each year includes three main competitions and five friendly matches against Past Lady Captains’ Golf Societies from neighbouring counties.

WHO CAN JOIN THE SOCIETY?

Any past lady captain of a golf club affiliated to the Cambs & Hunts Ladies Golf Association.

In January of each year the lady captain from the previous year is invited to join the Society and will be sent an application form. A one-off, lifetime membership fee of £10 is payable on application.

You can still join the Society, even if you didn’t do this at the end of your captaincy.  You just need to contact the Honorary Secretary and let her know which club you were lady captain at and the year of your captaincy. She will then send you an application form.
